As a North Sea spa resort, Cuxhaven runs to the rhythm of the season, and so do many of its businesses. In Duhnen, Döse and Sahlenburg hosts let holiday flats and hotel rooms, mudflat guides lead walks across to Neuwerk, and at the Alte Liebe visitors watch the ships on the Elbe. Guests come between Easter and autumn; winter is for planning and refurbishment. For websites that means load peaks on holiday weekends, content that changes with the season and an editorial team with no time in summer. Technology that slows down in August costs bookings.
The fishing port is the second pillar. Fish is processed, refined and shipped as delicatessen here — goods that have to travel chilled and cannot sit in the warehouse for long. Alongside this, Cuxhaven has developed into a base for offshore wind energy, with production, handling and service companies at the port. Suppliers from this environment sell to major customers with fixed purchasing processes, often via procurement systems and framework agreements. Different as the two sectors are, both need digital ordering channels that are reliably connected to warehouse and merchandise management and keep running when the port is at its busiest.
For fish delicatessen and regional specialities we build Shopware 6 shops with shipping rules that suit the goods: chilled shipping only on certain weekdays, delivery zones, minimum order values, breaks around public holidays. Shopware maps this in the Rule Builder, without makeshift fixes in the checkout. For offshore suppliers we implement B2B shops with customer prices, approvals and OCI or punch-out connections. As part of ongoing support we test updates on a staging copy before they go live, monitor orders and interfaces and respond according to the SLA tier you choose — 24, 8, 4 or 2 hours, monthly fee on request.
TYPO3 is made for spa operators, letting portals, associations and training providers on the coast, because many people work on one site: hosts maintain offers, editors maintain events, the administration maintains forms. We build portals like these on TYPO3 v14 LTS, multilingual and accessible, and host them on our own Proxmox servers in Germany, sized for high season rather than the annual average. Existing installations on v12 or older we take to v14 along an upgrade path — scheduling the cut-over for the quiet months. We check security bulletins on the day of publication and apply patches after testing on staging.
The drive from Oldenburg to the mouth of the Elbe takes an hour and a half. On-site meetings — kick-off, workshop, sign-off — we arrange with you and, where possible, keep them out of high season, when hosts and restaurateurs have other things on their minds. Project work runs remotely: staging environment in the browser, coordination by phone and video, maintenance without travel. You can reach us Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 16:00 CET, on +49 441 21 21 63 0; without an SLA we handle requests in order of receipt within 48 hours. We do not have an office in Cuxhaven.
