Leer is a shipping town. Companies that manage ships from here deal with charterers, crews and authorities in several languages and are constantly recruiting nautical and technical staff. Their website has to carry all of that: a fleet overview fed from maintained data, a careers section for seafarers, English versions that do not lag behind the German. Then there is maritime education — the seafaring faculty of Hochschule Emden/Leer is based in the town, surrounded by service providers for crewing, ship management and insurance. TYPO3 is built for sites like these: structured content, several languages and editorial permissions per department in a single installation.
The town's other side is retail. As the ‘gateway to East Frisia’, Leer also serves the Rheiderland and Overledingerland, its old town and pedestrian zone live on owner-run shops, and East Frisian tea has a long tradition here. For many of these retailers their own online shop has become a second sales floor: customers who visited in summer order again in winter. That calls for a shop that handles seasonal goods, gift sets and shipping cleanly, does not buckle on public holidays and knows the same stock levels as the shop in the old town.
We build these shops with Shopware 6 — as a Shopware Extension Partner with our own extensions in the Shopware Store. For retailers in Leer that means a B2C shop with a lean checkout, connected to the merchandise management or till system so that shop floor and web shop see the same figures. For wholesalers and maritime suppliers in the district we implement B2B features such as customer-specific prices and approval workflows. After go-live we take over support: patch releases of the 6.7 line are tested on a staging copy first, plugins are kept up to date, logs are read. A maintenance contract with an SLA makes this binding — 24, 8, 4 or 2 hours response time, monthly fee on request.
If your shipping company's website runs on a TYPO3 installation that was built solidly years ago and has simply kept running since, it is worth checking the version. Since 30 April 2026 there have been no free security updates for TYPO3 v12, and older versions have gone without them for longer. We plan the route to TYPO3 v14 LTS with an inventory of extensions, a test environment and a fixed cut-over date — from v12 via v13, as the core intends. New sites go straight onto v14. Then we take over maintenance: we check security bulletins on the day they are published, and updates run on staging first, then live.
Via the A28 it is around 45 minutes from our office to Leer. Kick-off, concept workshops and sign-offs take place at your premises by arrangement — in a harbourside office just as readily as in a shop in the old town. Development, updates and maintenance run remotely on staging environments you can check in your browser at any time. You can reach us Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 16:00 CET, on +49 441 21 21 63 0; outside those hours only with an agreed on-call arrangement. We do not have an office in Leer — the distance is short enough not to need one.
