Lüneburg grew rich on salt, and the old town still shows it today: gabled houses, the square Am Sande, the old harbour with its crane. A retail scene with many owner-run shops lives on this, together with restaurants and hotels for guests who combine a town visit with the Lüneburg Heath. Retailers here compete with Hamburg and with large platforms at the same time. An online shop of your own pays off when it shows what platforms lack: a range with advice, regional products from the heath and a shop in the old town where customers can collect their order.
Beyond the old town, Lüneburg's economy is broader than you might expect: the university and public authorities as major employers, plus healthcare, trades, logistics along the transport routes towards Hamburg and a start-up scene growing out of the university. Many businesses work for customers across the Hamburg metropolitan region and increasingly sell to business customers online as well. For them this means a shop or portal that can grow — a wider range, new customer groups, an ERP connection — without being rebuilt every few years. And anyone supplying authorities or universities has to know their accessibility requirements.
Lüneburg brings many editorial teams together in a small space: a university with faculties and institutes, the district and the Hanseatic town with their citizen services, cultural and tourism providers with events around the old town and the heath. For sites of this kind we build portals on TYPO3 v14 LTS — with several websites in one installation, English pages for international students and permissions per area — or take existing ones into maintenance. If an installation still runs on v12, free security updates have been missing since 30 April 2026, and for older versions even longer; we plan the upgrade path with an extension analysis, a test environment and sign-off. Afterwards we check every security bulletin on the day of publication and keep the PHP version and backups current.
For Lüneburg retailers and producers of regional goods we build online shops on Shopware 6: collection at the shop in the old town, connection to the till or merchandise management, shipping rules for heather honey as well as for bulky goods. Companies with business customers get B2B features with customer prices and approvals. We take over an existing shop after an inventory — including a Shopware 5 shop, which has received no maintenance since July 2024. Support is governed by a maintenance contract with an SLA in four tiers from 24 to 2 hours response time; updates are tested on a staging copy before they go live.
Around 2 hours and 15 minutes separate Oldenburg and Lüneburg, and agencies in Hamburg are closer — we say so openly. Our projects for Lüneburg therefore run mostly remotely: video calls instead of travel, ticket system, staging environment, named contacts. For the kick-off and, if you wish, for a workshop we come to Lüneburg by arrangement, well prepared so that the trip is worthwhile for both sides. You can reach us Monday to Thursday, 9:00 to 16:00, and Friday, 9:00 to 13:00 CET, on +49 441 21 21 63 0; with an SLA the agreed response time applies.
